How to cleanse your skin

One of the most important parts of great skincare has got to be the cleansing process, and over the years it's easy to get a bit laissez-faire about your routine and technique, so we thought we'd pop a quick reminder/tutorial post together in order to refresh your memory or set you off on the right path as summer approaches.

First up it's always important to cleanse with cotton pads or clean sponges to remove makeup every night. Remember your mother always telling you to wash your makeup off before you go to bed? Well it's true, sleeping with your make up on leads to the chance of all sorts from eye infections to break-outs so make sure a good night time cleanse is on the cards.

The right cleanser to choose it totally dependent on your skin type. If you have normal to combination skin a milk cleanser will be perfect for you. Milks are light and gentle, cleansing the skin without stripping it of its natural oils. We love Alumier MD Hydra Boost for its gentle cleansing ability which removes excess oils and makeup leaving the skin intensely hydrated. It gives the skin a surge of moisture whilst the Aloe and Allantoin within it gently soothe skin. Also, try Yon-Ka Lait Nettoyant for a silky milk which gently removes impurities and makeup.

The best cleanser for an oily skin is a gel-based cleanser in the morning, followed by an oil-based cleanser at night. This will remove oil, dirt and makeup without drying out the skin. Try Yon-Ka Gel Nettoyant for the morning cleanser, or also Alumier MD Purifying Gel Cleanser, which is a foaming cleanser which is developed to leave the skin smooth and soft.

For acne prone skin try Alumier MD Clarifying Cleanser. This remarkable deep-cleaner sorts out your pores and calms the skin for a clearer complexion. Salicylic acid penetrates the pores to help control acne pimples and allows the skin to heal. Whilst honey, niacinamide and rice bran extract soothe and hydrate leaving your skin fresh, supple and comfortable.

For dry skin, try a cleansing oil or cleansers containing oat extract, as the essential fatty acids and glycerin within it will help remove dead cells and dirt without irritating your complexion. We tend to recommend Alumier MD SensiCalm Cleanser, a gentle and soothing cleanser specifically designed for sensitive and redness-prone skin. It delicately removes impurities and excess oil while calming the skin. It contains emollients and ceramics which replenish lost moisture and leave the skin feeling smooth, soft and intensely hydrated.

Another great product for sensitive skin and particularly eyes is Yon-Ka Eau Micellaire. Basically, a micellar water which combines expert makeup removing agents and anti-ageing prevention elements. What's more, there's no extra rinsing required to remove it so it's perfect for delicate areas.
