How to cope with Rosacea
This week we're looking at Rosacea and how to cope with it. Lisa herself has suffered from Rosacea and part of her product development process for her award winning Pro-Effect Luminescent Base was triggered by her research into how to best deal with this skin problem.
The condition Rosacea is characterised by flushing or redness, dilated blood vessels, small red bumps and pus-filled spots. It is most common in women, although can be more severe in men, and tends to affect the T-zone area of the face. Triggers include alcohol, exercise, high or low temperatures, hot drinks, spicy foods and stress. It can also worsen with age especially if left untreated and it's thought there might be a slight correlation with hormone changes. But it's not all bad news as the progression of the condition can be curtailed with good therapy.
Calming skincare products containing echinacea, vitamin E and green tea can help to soothe and calm the skin. Also, the use of Vitamin C (which strengthens skin cells) can help reduce the severity of the length of flushing. Try to avoid harsh cleansers and scrubs, products made with alcohol and alpha hydroxyl acids. Also, it's a good idea to avoid rubbing, scrubbing or massaging the face.
Some of the top products Lisa recommends to use are as follows:
Pro-Effect Luminescent Base - LIsa's own revolutionary product which seamlessly combines the worlds of skincare and technology. It contains (amongst other things) Rose Quartz which is a natural healer and has a quickly calming effect.
Nettoyant Creme - we've recommended this before, it's a great gentle cleanser for sensitive, damaged or dry skin. It leaves the skin clean, supple and soothed.
Lotion Yon-Ka PS - although this is a toner, it also has aromatic healing benefits. It's a mist that can rebalance and prepare the skin for your everyday products and has essential oils which tone and sanitises the skin so perfect to add to the start of your makeup routine.
Creme 83 - this is a great morning cream - it's designed to help soften the epidermis of delicate and dry skin, also providing protection against harsh weather conditions.
Creme 11 - Lisa recommends this for evening application - it's gentle and rich and soothes sensitive skin. It also reduces redness which is a perfect for this skin condition.
Lisa also recommends using Gommage 305 one to three times a week. This product gently removes dead skin cells while hydrating and balancing the epidermis. It contains Borneo and white nettle which have soothing and purifying benefits for the skin.
There's also Masque 105 which is a great 3 clay detoxifying mask which tightens the pores, brightens the complexion and leaves the skin with an exceptional glow - what's not to love about that?
Finally, Lisa recommends adding a few drops of Hydralia to your routine which hydrates the skin enough to eliminate rough spots and the feeling of tautness.
