We love a new season here at the Lisa Franklin Clinic, not only for the obvious new fashion finds and chance to wear all those sumptuous cashmere knits winking at us from the back of the wardrobe, but also because it gives us the chance to embrace new season make up looks. After a summer of pastels and bronzers, there's something quite enticing about jumping into a whole new makeup colour palette, so here are some tips on what to look out for this winter.
The minimal no makeup look is the perfect autumn makeup trend to adopt. Think polished perfected skin, well-groomed brows, and subtle highlights. To amp up the look for the evening try a touch of sparkle by adding a dash of silver in the inner corner of the eyes.
To achieve this look it's time to ditch the full coverage foundation and invest in a good makeup primer. Of course, we love our award winning Lisa Franklin Pro-Effect Luminescent Base, which some of our favourite models are championing for their go-to #nomakeupmakeup look this upcoming London Fashion Week as they dash between shows. For the rest of us mere mortals, add a tinted moisturiser or a light/medium foundation to embrace this fresh look. If you still feel like you need a little more coverage invest in a good concealer for those tricky areas.
If you are going down the minimal makeup route, add something extra to your look by trying a natural lip gloss on your eyelid. Also switching up your usual shade of red lipstick to one with an orange or peach tone will have you looking bang on trend this autumn.
For the eyes why not try a toned down smokey eye look using taupes and greys. The classic smokey eye can be enhanced by adding a dash of colour over the centre of the lids. A big autumn winner is a touch of red for an appropriate fiery look.
If you're feeling brave, now is a great time to embrace new colour trends. Try switching up your mascara colour to a blue or wear an eyeshadow in a bright colour. You can always pop into the clinic for a consult with our makeup professional Rebecca who can advise you on which colours suit your eyes best, but a good rule of thumb is to use neutrals as a base. To add contrast, blue eyes pop with colours which have an orange undertone (corals, apricots and browns), green eyes sparkle with red undertones which contrast with the green (reddy browns, rich and warm browns) and for brown eyes think jewel toned browns and even navy blue to naturally enhance your iris.
