With January being that time of year when we all take stock of our health and well-being, we thought it would be the perfect time to take 5 minutes to chat to our favourite renowned health & nutrition coach Karen Cummings-Palmer.
Karen creates bespoke wellness and nutrition plans for her private clients and corporations all over the world and is a leading figure and commentator in the world of wellness. For her, it's all about feeding your face and fuelling your body which is something that we wholeheartedly believe in too.
What made you get into the Wellness industry?
I was driven by my own struggle with eczema, as I started tackling the issue from the inside out I felt inspired to study then share the healing power of nutrition and lifestyle choices.
Best beauty/wellness memory?
Raquel Welsh was a client at a pop-up wellness studio I was running in Beverly Hills and I was talking to her dedicated fitness trainer about the extraordinary shape she was in. He said quite simply little and always is the key for her and indeed everyone else, if you want to see a change you have just got to make it a non-negotiable part of your life. Now seemingly so obvious it was a bit of a lightbulb moment and my 2 or 3 times a week training sessions turned into a daily 10 minute movement ritual - on my bedroom floor.
Favourite wellness trends?
I am really excited about the slow but definite curve away from the obsession with youth. I focus on both managing and celebrating age - I don't think the two are mutually exclusive and we have to value the beauty and indeed privilege of ageing whilst doing everything we can to make the process a happy and healthy one.
What or who inspires you?
Being in nature, especially by the ocean - there is a wonderful kind of perspective one gets when utterly dwarfed by the enormity and magnificence of the sea. Also, the extraordinary women in my life doing it for themselves and for others.
1 beauty and 1 wellness product you can't live without?
I love a deep crimson lip, it can be face changing and game-changing, it says business and pleasure. I believe in taking really good supplements, yes we can get everything we need from food but most of us don't, there are some great options on the market and my current favourite is Lumity.
With thanks to Karen for taking time out of her busy schedule to chat to us. If you would like to find out more about her amazing consultation services pop over to her website here. Or follow her daily musings on Twitter @Guidetogorgeous or her inspirational Instagram posts @karencummingspalmer
