New Client Facial Treatment FAQs

The Clinic Privé Facial is a chemical peel treatment incorporating 6 AHAs and salicylic acid (BHA) It is a versatile resurfacing peel designed to address acne pimples, diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage.

Our Clinic Privé chemical peel treatment involves applying a solution to the face and neck, causing exfoliation and revealing new, regenerated skin. Before the procedure, we assess your skin type, discuss goals, and determine the length of chemical peel application.

To ensure thorough cleansing and removal excess oils, makeup, and debris, we prepare the skin. In some cases, a preparation solution is applied to degrease the skin and enhance the peel’s penetration.

The chemical peel solution is applied with a brush in layers, and adjusted depending on desired depth and results.

The chemical solution remains on the skin for a specific time, varying based on depth and skin sensitivity. Tingling or a burning sensation may occur.

After the peel, the skin may be soothed with a cool compress. A post-peel kit is provided for recovery and optimal results. Sun exposure should be avoided, and sunscreen is recommended. Over the following days and weeks, the treated skin peels, revealing smoother, regenerated skin.

Salicylic acid is a naturally occurring compound derived from the bark of willow trees. The name “salicylic” is derived from the Latin word for willow, “salix.” Willow bark has been used for centuries in traditional medicine to relieve pain and reduce fever.

In addition to its natural source, salicylic acid can also be synthesised chemically. The synthetic form is commonly used in various skincare products, particularly in treatments for acne and other skin conditions. Salicylic acid is known for its exfoliating properties and its ability to help unclog pores.

Salicylic acid is a keratolytic, meaning it promotes the shedding of dead skin cells. It exfoliates the outer layer of the skin, helping to unclog pores. This makes it particularly effective for individuals with acne-prone skin, as it can prevent the formation of comedones (blackheads and whiteheads) and reduce the appearance of existing blemishes.

Salicylic acid has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce redness and inflammation associated with acne and other skin conditions. This makes it a suitable ingredient for people with sensitive or inflamed skin.

Unlike some other acids, salicylic acid is oil-soluble, which means it can penetrate through oil to reach and exfoliate inside the pores. This makes it effective in treating and preventing acne, as it can help to break down the substances that clog pores.

Salicylic acid can help regulate sebum (oil) production in the skin. By controlling excess oil, it contributes to the prevention of acne and the formation of blackheads and whiteheads.

Salicylic acid can help fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation by promoting skin cell turnover. This can result in a more even skin tone over time.
